Dr. Alam, an accomplished neurologist, returns to Iran with his son, Saman, after living a long time abroad and separating from his wife. He is so distracted by his professional life that he completely forgets Saman. He even forgets his son's birthday, which was last night, while Saman was waiting for him to come and give him his birthday present, a telescope. He wanted this telescope so as to be able to compete with other students from Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan in an astronomy contest. The next day, a news disrupts the ordinary, everyday life of Dr, Alam: he finds out that his son's occasional headaches are related to a brain tumor. He can't forgive himself because of neglecting his son in the past. When Saman doesn't answer his cell phone, he asks his whereabouts from his fiancée, Negin. Negin tells him that he is in the middle of the desert observing the beautiful night sky of the desert. He goes after his son, carrying only the back-pack Saman left behind and his promised birthday gift. While Saman's condition exacerbates, Dr. Alam, enters a mystical state while searching for his son in the middle of the desert.
