During mid-1940s to mid-1950s in Tehran, Ehsan Kameli who is an engineer at Abadan oil refinery comes to his wife Nasim on holidays but is attacked by security guards and arrested. Nasim who is pregnant, is punched by a security guard and her baby is aborted. This is a tragedy for her since she has waited for fifteen years to have a child. She is also concerned about her husband and asks for his conditions. She goes to the police station through a middleman called Mr. Ma'ref, and after investigating the case for her husband, the commander tells her that his case is a big one from his university years to the oil company and he was an activist and took part in workers' strikes. She finally finds out that her husband is exiled to a remote police station in desert. Ehsan becomes friend with officers there, particularly the chief warrant officer Sami', and when the station is attacked by a group of armed criminals, the chief asked him to escape and save his life, but the chief is killed and Ehsan is captured. He escapes from prison, and suffering lots of difficulties, goes to Tehran to see his wife. But after a while, he is arrested again for anti-government activities. There is no return this time and after tracking him for some time, Nasim eventually finds out that her husband is killed.
