Abbas Kiarostami is invited to Uganda by UNESCO to make a film about the plights of Ugandan children whose parents have died of AIDS. Kiarostami meets an old woman in the village who had lost eleven of her children because of AIDS. In the hospital, death awaits the ill children. The disaster is terrible, but life goes on in Uganda despite all the problems, and the children, out of their joyful nature and their pure character, dance cheerfully when they hear the sound of music and share their happiness with the grown-ups who have been disturbed and exhausted by the crisis. Kiarostami's camera depicts an Austrian couple who adopt a Ugandan orphan as their daughter. The little girl has to say goodbye to her motherland and all of her memories and say hello to a new land and its culture.
